Warrington
Wolves Congratulations to Warrington Wolves, winners of the Carnegie Challenge Cup 2009! Warrington beat Huddersfield Giants 25-16 in the final at Wembley on 29th August 2009 to lift the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1974. The following day there was a homecoming parade through Warrington town centre from the Halliwell Jones Stadium to the Town Hall where they went in for a civic reception. This page has a gallery of photos that I took during the homecoming, from 2 locations, firstly from the roundabout on Winwick Street/Pinners Brow by The Lord Rodney, and secondly on Winmarleigh Street near the Town Hall gates on Sankey Street. There is also a video that I have posted on YouTube with several clips that we took from the same locations and from inside the Town Hall grounds. Warrington Wolves have reached the semi-finals again after a hard fought quarter-final match against Bradford Bulls. Let’s hope they beat the Catalans to reach the final and bring the Challenge Cup home for the second year in a row!
