Preparation | Construction | Completion The first hotel to be build in Birchwood is currently nearing completion. Part of the Ramada Encore chain of hotels, the Ramada Encore Warrington is due to open on 19th January 2009. It is situated just inside MEPC's Birchwood Park estate next to Birchwood Way, by the roundabout with the Connections Sculpture. It is on the corner of Aston Avenue and Faraday Street. This page records various stages during the construction of the hotel.
It is being built on part of the site of the old UKAEA RD4 building that was demolished in 2004. The former building was originally built as part of the Royal Ordnance Factory in about 1939-40. Site Preparation
When the former UKAEA building was demolished, the site was left until it was prepared for the hotel. By the end of 2007, the hotel site had been marked out and fenced off. The first two photos in this gallery were taken in 2007. During the early months of 2008, there were few signs of construction, as work focused on the foundations and services. Construction Construction began in earnest during May 2008.
