News
KEEP
BIRCHWOOD FIRE STATION WHOLETIME:
There is currently an active campaign opposing the plans by
Cheshire Fire Authority to end full time cover by regular fire fighters at
Birchwood Fire Station. The plan is to remove the overnight cover and
replace it with retained fire fighters who have up to 5 minutes to get to the
station. This is at odds with the normal message that every second
counts, but unless the campaign is successful, the changes are expected to be
introduced from January 2011. The group has set up a page on Facebook - www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=285459304768
(opens in a new window).
Panoramio:
See my Panoramio photostream with more images of Birchwood: www.panoramio.com/user/brian
(opens in a new window).
All of the images have been approved for Google Earth/Google Maps, although
they seem to display better in Google Earth. In Google Maps, they work
better if you use "Birchwood" as a tag.
ROF
Filling Factories - The National Picture:
Throughout February 2010, I have been working on some new pages that set the former Risley Royal
Ordnance Factory into a national context, amongst the others that made up the
16 Filling Factories across the country. The work was completed in the
early hours of 27th Feb and you can see the result here: ROFs
Nationally

Hope
09 - Future Past
This was a
project by learners at Birchwood Community High School in June and July
2009. One of the teams "Future Past" was looking at Birchwood
past, present and future. Within their project work, they used some
information and photos from my Birchwood pages. Their work has been on display
since Summer 2009 in the windows of The
Encounter Centre (Birchwood Community Church), the former Silver Birch building
at the Birchwood Shopping Centre. I have taken some photos of the display
that are published on the website of Birchwood
Community Church
I have also taken photos specifically for
the Birchwood Partnership and have made photos available to other local
organisations

More details here. I normally agree to free use of my photos by non-commercial
organisations. If commercial organisations wish to make use of my work, I will be pleased
to discuss your requirements, both in terms of stock photos and specific
assignments. The photos published on these pages are a
small selection of my work. I also welcome ideas and suggestions for other
themed galleries of Birchwood.
