Introduction

I twice visited a factory in one of the largest countries in central west Africa in 1998 and 1999. We stayed in bungalows in a secure area of the factory grounds and some of the pictures here were taken in the gardens there. Others were taken on car journeys when we toured the countryside around the factory.

Town and Country

The first collection of photos was taken mainly from a car whilst we were being driven around the country areas. The final picture in this collection was taken from a lakeside bar.

Even 8 years later, this remains the only kingfisher that I have managed to photograph. It was taken in a suburban garden.

Beach and Coast

A large sandy beach on south facing Atlantic coastline. The area behind the beach in the trees had a range of food stalls.

Factory Accommodation

The visitors' accommodation was set in the corner of the factory land in a secure area with an attractive garden and a swimming pool. The tree with its aerial roots is not uncommon in the area, but it was the first time that I had seen one. Geckos were plentiful and I have included several photos of them in my animals galleries.
